What types of workers’ compensation benefits are available to me in AZ? P.2

In our previous post, we began speaking about the types of workers’ compensation benefits available to injured workers. We’ve already spoken about benefits for medical costs and for lost wages stemming from temporary disability, both partial and total. Here, we continue the discussion.

Benefits for benefits for lost wages and permanent injures, continued…

Workers’ compensation benefits are available for permanent disability as well, both partial and total. The latter are available only in cases where the injuries are severe enough that they leave the accident victim permanently unable to work. Permanent partial disability benefits are only awarded after the injured worker has reached “maximum medical improvement”, at which point the extent of the disability can be determined. Special forms of documentation must be provided for different types of permanent injuries, including loss of use, disfigurement/scarring, and amputation, and it is important to include all of this information to ensure full compensation is awarded.

Death benefits

Finally, there are death benefits, which include burial expenses, reasonable transportation costs and compensation for dependants. It is important for surviving family members to understand what they are entitled to under the law to ensure the employer doesn’t attempt to take advantage or shortchange them.
