Construction accidents can involve falls from significant heights

Arizona companies are required to follow regulations set forth by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in order to ensure that the work environment is safe for employees. For instance, construction workers often find themselves working well above the ground. Since one of the common causes of construction accidents is falling from significant heights, employers are responsible for ensuring that their employees have the proper safety equipment and training.

OSHA has cited an out-of-state roofing company multiple times for similar violations. The company has consistently failed to provide fall protection to its employees in accordance with OSHA regulations. Employees of the company were working at heights of approximately 18 feet without the proper safety precautions in place.

The latest inspection was a housing development in Pennsylvania at which Home Live Roofing LLC was working. OSHA found numerous violations (one serious, two repeat and one willful) by the Georgia-based company. No information was provided regarding whether any workers had suffered injuries at this work site. Fortunately, most Arizona construction companies take the safety of their workers more seriously than it appears this roofing company does.

However, construction accidents still happen. Injuries are often serious or deadly depending on the heights from which workers fall. Workers’ compensation benefits are available to help with the medical needs of an injured worker, and other benefits could be available as well. Lost income, disability and other benefits could help with the financial losses incurred after a work injury. However, the workers’ compensation process can be complex, frustrating and stressful, so it might be beneficial to enlist the aid of an attorney and get back to focusing on recovering.
