Arizona company receives safety award
Many workplaces say they are committed to safety, but don’t take the necessary precautions to actually ensure safety for their employees. An unsafe work environment can have a devastating impact on your life. When a company doesn’t adhere to proper safety protocols, workers can be injured by factory accidents, unhealthy environments and careless practices.
Recently the Tempe-based Mapei Corporation received the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) award from the Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health. They join a list of 24 other companies who have earned the distinction.
To receive the SHARP award, a company must demonstrate exemplary safety practices, as measured by daily injuries and illness rates. ADOSH also conducts numerous employee interviews to determine if a company qualifies for the award.
When an Arizona worker is injured in a workplace accident, they are entitled to recover workers’ compensation benefits under Arizona law. As long as the injury occurred in the course and scope of employment, the worker does not need to prove negligence or fault on the part of the employer. The benefits cover medical expenses, lost wages, temporary and permanent disability, and other costs resulting from an on-the-job injury.
